What silver we buy

Sterling or plated: they're not the same
Sterling silver is solid silver and has real value. Silver-plated items and alpaca (a white metal with little or no silver) contain very little recoverable silver, so they're worth almost nothing. We confirm this with XRF before valuing — no surprises.
How silver is valued
Weight × purity × the official silver price of the day, confirmed with XRF and with no hidden margins. One tip: don't polish it. Dark tarnish takes nothing off the metal's value, and cleaning adds nothing to the valuation.
