International market spot quote converted to euros per gram at the ECB EUR/USD rate; the change is measured against the last LBMA fix before today’s session. Metal value, not an offer.

Platinum 950 and 900: what each hallmark means

Platinum jewellery is almost always made in 950 fineness ("Pt950" or "950" hallmark), and in older pieces or other markets in 900. It is a white, dense, heavy metal: a platinum wedding band weighs noticeably more than the same band in white gold.

It is often confused with white gold and with silver, which look similar by eye. Only XRF analysis tells the three apart with certainty, and the difference in value per gram between platinum and silver is enormous.

Platinum price when selling: what are you paid?

The reference price above is the market spot quote for pure platinum: what the metal is worth on the market, not an offer. When you sell a piece, what you are paid comes from three facts: the exact weight in grams, the real purity (which does not always match the hallmark) and the quote on the day it is valued.

At OroSeguro we weigh each piece on a calibrated scale, measure purity with a laboratory XRF spectrometer, apply the official quote of the day and send you a written offer with a piece-by-piece breakdown. No hidden margins or fees: if you decline, we return your items free and insured.

Frequently asked questions about the platinum price

How much is a gram of platinum worth today?
The platinum price per gram on this page is the international market spot quote, in dollars per troy ounce, converted to euros at the ECB reference exchange rate and divided by the 31.1035 grams in an ounce.
How do I know if my jewellery is platinum or white gold?
The hallmark helps ("Pt950" versus "750"), but it can be missing. Platinum is heavier and does not yellow over time like rhodium-plated white gold. The only conclusive test is XRF analysis, which we run on every piece before the offer.
Do you buy platinum?
Yes. Platinum jewellery, wedding bands and items of any fineness. They are valued by weight and real purity at the day’s quote and paid by bank transfer within 24 hours of accepting the offer.
Is platinum worth more than gold?
It depends on the moment: for years it traded above gold and in recent years below it. The table above shows today’s quote; on the metal prices page you can compare it with gold.

Real-time spot quote (refreshed every 5 minutes) converted to euros per gram with the ECB reference exchange rate. The official London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) fix is used as the fallback.
